Tip of the day: Dogs & Hot Weather

During hot weather care should be taken with ALL dogs. Always have fresh water available. Always make sure they have shelter and shade to stay in. Never leave your dog in a car. Many people still think it is OK to leave their dog in a car if they leave the window down, DO NOT do this. Your dog could still quickly over heat and this could be fatal. There are still so many cases of dogs being found dead in over heated cars, here at dogs.info we want to stress don't leave your dog in a car! Even if you have a window down it is not enough to keep a car cool. Even if you leave water in the car it is not enough to cool your dog! If you park in the shade the car will still over heat, and as the sun moves the car may no longer be in the shade on your return. Even if your only going to be a few minutes out of your car, dont leave them, temperatures can soar very quickly. Be safe and don't take the risk!

Tip of the Day: Wet Or Dry

I think that a lot of people choose one or the other, but my belief is that a mixture of both is ideal.

Generally speaking, kibble is actually LESS nutritious for dogs than a high quality canned food.

Some people swear by just one or the other, but when you really look at the breakdown of calories, proteins, minerals and other nutritional factors, a combination of wet and dry is ideal.

Though they do have protein in them, the easiest way to visualize it is to think of kibble as a source of carbohydrates, which means that if you feed only kibble, you are feeding a lower protein diet than with meat.

I think a 60/40 kibble/meat ratio is good and that is what we feed Jack and have fed all our dogs, come to think of it.

The benefits of kibble aren't just nutrient-based, though....they have their place in cleaning the teeth a bit as they are chewed up.

As with any food issue, I think it also depends on the brand, too.

Adption

As we all know the population of Kuwaits stray animals is huge, shelters are fully packed and not many people willing to adopt. I along with 2-3 other people try to rescue as much animals as possible and find them good homes the only problem is that we already have a lot of animals in our homes and unfortunately can not keep anymore therefore we need people who can help us keep these dogs and cats untill we can find them a permanent home, if you are willing to take care of the animals for a period of time i will be more than happy to provide food and medical care for them all i need is a place to keep them.
These animals are being run over, some are caught and used as bait dogs in dog fights, others are being poured gassoline over and burnt alive, some are tied by the neck to the car and being dragged on the road, they face a horrific death on the streets so please have a heart and help us help them! Help them with a foster home until a permanent one can be found or suggest people who can help with foster care, if you know someone willing to adopt please let us know! these animals have so much love to give, i know that they are the joy of my everyday, save an animal and be blessed by their love and happiness in return!
